First-place in Features-driven Multimedia Storytelling for MDDC Press Association Contest

I'm flying high with the news that If only birds were 'puppies' placed first in MDDC Press Association's Features-driven Multimedia Storytelling category.

This news comes shortly after the story, 'No grass, no crabs,' reported alongside Andrea Durán and Daranee Balachandar, took first place in MDDC's Environmental Reporting category.

The MDDC Contest recognizes excellence in news media organizations throughout Maryland, Delaware and D.C. Entries are judged by newspaper professionals from the Washington Press Association.

Originally published on Capital News Service's wire, If only birds were 'puppies' has since been republished in over a dozen outlets, referenced in Merriam Webster and received recognition from iNaturalist.

A special shout-out to Capital News Service bureau director Adam Marton, who submitted the story for an award.

Over the years, I've learned how essential it is to have mentors and people in your corner who genuinely root for you, support your growth and open doors. It makes all the difference.
