Maryland’s landmark heat stress standard risks leaving farmworkers behind as temperatures and political tensions rise

I’m excited to share a piece I co-authored for Dialogue & Discourse on behalf of the RESPIRAR Project. In the article, Devon Payne-Sturges and I discuss Maryland’s new heat standard — a critical step toward protecting workers from rising temperatures. Drawing on our team’s research, we explore whether the policy goes far enough to protect the workers most susceptible to heat-related illness on the job.
