5 million+ Americans rose up today to protest the Trump administration

Millions of demonstrators took to the streets for the nationwide "Hands Off!" protest on Saturday, marking the single largest day of protests in American history.

At least 1,400 demonstrations were planned across all 50 states, the largest single day of protests since the start of Trump's second term, according to organizers.

"This mass mobilization is our message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies," wrote organizers in their Hands Off! D.C. event page.

Over 150 groups helped organize the protests, including federal worker coalitions, civil rights and LGBTQ+ organizations, veterans, labor unions, election advocates and the Women's March organizers.

In Washington, D.C., organizers estimate that over 100,000 gathered by the Washington Monument. Nationwide, the Alt. National Park Service estimates that over 5 million people participated, which equates to roughly 2% of the U.S. population.

Protests also erupted in London, Lisbon, Paris, Berlin and Frankfurt.

50501 plans "a national day of action" for April 19

The 50501 group, one of many organizers supporting Saturday's protest, has planned what they are calling a "national day of action" for Saturday, April 19.

The group wrote on Facebook that the activities could include a big protest, volunteer work, or another act of charity.

"This administration is taking away our social support webs, it is actively hurting people and will harm even more people day by day. It's time to become the social support web."

Hundreds of events are being added to their website.
